  1. I really like how you took such a unique lens on your project. You analyzed how Aunt Jemima helped to instill in America the mammy figure. It is very interesting how this idea of the deep south and how it seems to paint such a bleak time for African Americans in such a good light. Americans will not likely forget all the ads have tried to make us think. I do find it very interesting how you place the mammy figure in such a bad light. Is it possible it did any good possibly to calm some tense race relations. I definitiely see your point. It would have been interesting if you brought up so more modern version of the Mammy figure like Mrs. Buttersworth or the lady from the Popeyes commercial.
